DATA GENERATION: ALTERNATIVE METHODS
REACH legislation explicitly expresses the possibility of data generation for the registration of substances without the need of experimental assays.
The use non-testing methods reduces the extent of experimental testing, and addresses financial and animal welfare concerns. The following techniques can be used:
- Validated (Q)SAR models.
They are mathematical models for the prediction of properties or toxicity of chemical substances.
- Chemical categories grouping.
Similar substances can be grouped in the same chemical category, to form a sufficient group that shows predictable trends across its members.
- Extrapolation of data (read-across).
Extrapolation of data between substances with similar characteristics allows predicting their physico-chemical, toxicological and/or ecotoxicological properties.
According to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) non-testing methods have the same validity as experimental assays.
TOXICOLOGICAL, ECOTOXICOLOGICAL AND PHYSICO-CHEMICAL STUDIES
Thanks to our agreements with Universities and Research Centres we can offer you the accomplishment of different assays at competitive prices. You can consult us.
